44th & 3rd bookseller

worked with warren, cheryl, and allyce lee, the family behind 44th & 3rd bookseller. founded in 2017 and headquartered in atlanta, the brand grew from cheryl lee's masters thesis on the challenges facing independent bookstores and strategies for success. their mission: provide unbiased literature that reflects the rich culture and excellence of the black community worldwide.

goal

create a brand identity that reflects the sanctuary they built for black literature, history, and culture. support a business that has grown year over year, expanding from their first location in little five points to a custom designed space, with partnerships now spanning hotels domestic and overseas.

approach

handled branding, design direction, and internal it support as the business evolved. the work needed to support their range of activities: in-store experiences, reading events, zoom programming, book clubs, poetry nights, lectures, and providing books for large-scale author events including recent work with kamala harris.

outcome

a visual identity that matches the care they put into curating their space and programming. the brand supports their continued growth while staying rooted in their mission of enriching the community and stimulating dialogue through literature.
