art+practice metro

created for art+practice's 7th annual issue, in anticipation of the forthcoming leimert park metro stop.

leimert park is a neighborhood deeply rooted in black art, music, and activism. the illustration tries to capture that energy: storefronts, patterns, culture, and the feeling of a place that's been building something for decades. the metro stop represents change, but the work is really about what's already there.

this one felt personal. the neighborhood has a creative history that runs deep, and the challenge was honoring that while making something new. printed and published through art+practice's annual publication.
